the cover inlaid with two ceramic playful puppies, decorated on one side in hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with pruned pine branch in gold and inlaid shell, and tied chopped bamboo, the interior decorated with kirikane flakes against a roiro ground, the lid with a sprig of fern in gold lacquer, and a coloured takamaki-e and shell peach, also bearing Hazan's seal in red, pewter rims
