the sides decorated in coloured enamels with two panels of deer and brightly coloured flower blossoms, with two further panels of blossoming branches, each reserved against a turquoise ground decorated with further scrolling flower blossoms and leafy tendrils, between ruyi-head and key-fret bands

PROVENANCE: Dr David McCay. From the same private collection as the Wanli garlic mouth vase gifted to the V&A Museum by his wife Mrs. F H McCay, accession No. CIRC.23-1950.
Good overall appearance and condition. Some minor enamel nicks in places, mostly the foot, which has some losses; also a compression spot ad loss to one side, underside of foot wit old soldered repair.
