A PAIR OF TRAPRAIN HOARD SALT CELLARS, BROOK & SON, EDINBURGH 1932. A pair of triangular salt cellars made to copy silver bowls from a hoard of 5th century late Roman silver that was discovered in 1919 at Traprain Law, near Haddington, East Lothian.
Made in a heavy gauge of silver, much like the Roman originals and marked for Brook & Son of Edinburgh who made also many replicas of other silver items from the same hoard.
