A FINE MUGHAL-STYLE WHITE JADE FLORIFORM BOX AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
the exterior is inset with enamels within gold wires of ruby-red coloured flowers with emerald-green leafy stems, the interior with five shaped compartments, the underside finely carved with a blossoming chrysanthemum
10.2cm wide
PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of the Late George Withers (1946-2023).
Good overall appearance. There are two green leaves missing from the base and some rubbing and losses to the gilt tendrils. Similarly, some rubbing losses to the cover. One of the red glass flower heads to the lid has a crack. Under high powered light there is a fine fissure which runs near to one edge approximately 1.5cm in length. This is not noticable to the 'naked eye'
