BUGATTI AUTOMOBILES ET AUTORAILS POSTER BY GERI c.1938

Around 1935 the modernist and impressionist artist R. Géri received a commission by Bugatti to design a promotional poster for the usine at Molsheim. The theme was the common top speeds of the Bugatti Autorail train and the Type-57 road cars of the day.

The Second World War shortly broke out, and so few posters were put up in period. Post-war the concept was deemed somewhat out of date, and so Bugatti used remaining copies for, of all things, to wrap spare parts for shipping. As such survivors are both scarce and highly prized.

This rare example was owned by a long-term Bugatti owner and enthusiast for many years, recently being cleaned and backed onto linen to preserve its integrity.

A rare offering, and well regarded by art collectors and Bugatti enthusiasts alike.

The poster measures approximately 99 x 62cm, and is marked on the bottom margin, Fischer * Litho A Michel Strasburg 30 Rue D'Ail
