1966 Yamaha YDS3 250cc
Registration Number: KFR 215D
Frame Number: Y23-37466
- Restored example
- Fuel tank signed by Wayne Rainey
The YDS3 was a new design in almost every respect for Yamaha, and notable as the first Yamaha twin to feature 'Autolube' automatic lubrication by means of a gearbox-driven pump. Stylish and fast, the YDS3 was an enormous success, continuing Yamaha's reputation for offering more performance for the money than any of its rivals. Anyone who has ever owned and ridden one will attest that no other 250cc model came close to the performance offered by this great classic.
This super restored example arrived in the UK in 2008, and into current ownership around 7 years ago. Usefully fitted with electronic ignition, the bike is said to run and ride well, and has recently been fitted with both new tyres and battery. With a fuel tank signed by world champion Wayne Rainey, MoT history and V5C, this 60s Yamaha is a great fun classic Japanese sports bike.
