Toschi/Marchesini 1/6th scale model of a Ferrari F500 Formula 2 Racing Car - an impressive aluminium model of this classic racing car.

In 1952 the Toschi Liqueur Company produced a limited number of these Ferrari models in 1952 to celebrate Alberto Ascari's domination of the world championship, winning every race that year. Produced by the Marchesini Toy Company, these highly collectible models are cast in two halves, secured by clips.

Similar models were presented to Ascari, Fangio and other celebrities which had a bottle of liqueur to the interior and a small basket of cherries to the drivers seat.

Interestingly this model can also be used as a working model toy, the interior is fitted with a mechanism to allow a tensioned rubber band to move the car across the floor.

This example is finished in Ferrari red and is in good original order. It shows signs of being repainted in the past but pleasingly still shows the correct recesses on the side panels to indicate correct location of the Ferrari shields. The model still retains its correct simulated spoked wheels and Pirelli rubber tyres. The rubber band has long since perished but has been left inside the model to preserve its originality.
