A FINE JAPANESE LACQUER WRITING BOX (SUZURIBAKO) 
LATE EDO / MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
finely decorated in hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with a loose bag of fireflies, the interior fitted in the typical manner and further decorated with medallion depicting cranes and a willow tree, reserved against a nashiji ground, with a tomobako storage box
