The T120 timeline started in 1959, based on a Triumph TR6 with a parallel twin engine designed by Edward Turner. The name Bonneville derived from Triumph’s attempt at the World motorcycle speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA. The first attempt was by Johnny Allen in 1955, where a speed of 193 mph was achieved on the Devils Arrow Streamliner. The following year, a modified Triumph Tiger 110 broke the record, this was the basis for the new ‘Bonneville'.
The latest incarnation of the T120 is the T120 Goldline Special, taking its name from the hand painted gold coachlines on the fuel tank. The engine fitted is a 1198cc liquid-cooled four stroke parallel twin SOHC with a 270 degree crankshaft and 4 valves per cylinder. The twin is a high-torque machine, achieved through a lighter crankshaft and balancing shafts to deliver a more responsive throttle pick up, more torque from lower revs, and less vibration. Braking has also been improved for with twin upgraded twin piston Brembo calipers
Offered for sale is a beautiful one owner, low mileage example of the Goldline model, fitted with the optional screen, rack and top box. Finished in Silver Ice and Competition Green, with hand-painted gold coachlines, the machine pays homage as the latest incarnation to Triumph's T120 Bonneville line. This fabulous bike comes with handbook, service book and full service history
