Launched in 1976, the Fiesta was an immediate and sustained success in the ‘Super Mini‘ sector. It wasn’t long before Ford launched the now legendary Fiesta XR2 in 1982. This theme continued with the well received turbocharged version of 1990. A short-lived model, the Turbo was phased out in 1992 and replaced with the RS1800, badged with a respectful nod to its ultra successful 1970s ancestor. 

The newcomer’s 1796cc DOHC four-cylinder engine featured higher profile camshafts, larger throttle bodies and a more aggressive engine management chip. Giving 130bhp and 120lbft of torque, with 0-60mph in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 127mph the RS1800 was a match for the likes of the Peugeot 205GTi 1.9 and Renault Clio 16v. Visually distinguished from its lesser siblings by a colour-coded rear hatch spoiler, 'RS'/'1800' badging and 14” polished five-spoke alloys, the Fast Ford also boasted Recaro front seats and 'Raven' trim. A much underrated driver's car, the Fiesta RS1800 is now becoming collectable. 

This 1992 Fiesta RS1800 has had just three keepers from new, the current for now c.20 years. Finished in Diamond White with grey Recaro trim, this incredibly original car presents well both inside and out, showing only minor wear commensurate with age. With a history file containing copious maintenance and service invoices, we understand from our vendor that the RS1800 is ‘on the button’ and drives very well. Having been stored recently, the Fiesta will no doubt benefit from a minor amount of recommissioning before being used once more.
