In 1968, Ducati developed a new type of valve operation on their top of the range machines, the desmodromic valve system, desmo for short. The desmodromic valve is a reciprocating engine poppet valve that is positively opened and closed by two cams and twin actuators. The system was introduced into the 1968 wide case Mark 3 single cylinder 436cc road-off road machines. Known as the 450 Jupiter, the new scramblers were exported to the USA to fill the huge appetite for off road, adventure machines.
This sprung-head 1969 450 Jupiter was originally exported from Italy to the USA, coming to England in 1994, where it was bought by our vendor. A rare sight on British roads, the Ducati has been lovingly maintained in current ownership, the bike being presented in good running condition. A welcome addition to any respectable collection, this classic Ducati scrambler will we are sure be huge fun for off-road riding in the summer months.
