A FINE BLACK STONE HEAD OF A BODHISATTVA
CIRCA 11TH-13TH CENTURY,
with an elaborate princely headdress with central lotus bud and finely defined hair and details, an earring remaining to the left ear, the face with serene almond shaped eyes and lightly pursed lips.
22 cm high, 15 cm deep.
PROVENANCE: Angela Trueb (nee Clement-Davies) Collection
NOTE: This is a finely depicted head and would have surely been part of a beautiful statuesque and intricately executed figure. There are various antique losses including to the nose, lips and chin but the bust is imbued with great artistic presence.
