Jawa motorcycles earned a reputation for rugged reliability, particularly in Eastern Europe, where they were a popular choice for both commuters and long-distance riders. The Model 634, introduced in the mid-1970s, was a classic Eastern European twin, featuring a 350cc air-cooled two-stroke engine, producing around 22 bhp and paired with a four-speed gearbox. Known for its durability, simple engineering, and distinctive styling, the 634 was widely used by police and military forces as well as everyday riders.
This 1979 Jawa Model 634 was purchased as a project in 2021 and has since undergone a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration. The powder-coated paintwork has been professionally finished, with re-plated or new chrome parts, and the engine fully rebuilt, including a new bottom end, bearings, and seals. The original Jikov carburettor has been upgraded to a Mikuni unit, improving performance and reliability.
Retaining its original engine and frame numbers, this example comes with considerable history and receipts, as well as the original key for the steering lock and seat. The odometer shows 14,000 miles, with around 500 miles added since the rebuild. Registered as YES 533T, this well-sorted Jawa is a great example of a classic two-stroke twin, ready to be enjoyed.
