A CHINESE TORTOISE-SHELL CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
19TH CENTURY, CIRCA 1840
carved in relief with a scholar seated at a table with ladies and children in a landscape scene beneath pavilions amongst willow, plantain and prunus trees, all within a rope-twist and flowerhead border, the underside carved in the round with a saddled horse, a seated figure and a figure at a window, with attendants, rockwork and willow with clouds, with flowerhead and landscape border.
