The James Cycle Company was a well-regarded name in British motorcycling, producing lightweight, practical machines throughout the mid-20th century. The Sport Super Swift, introduced in the early 1960s, was among the company’s later models, offering a blend of everyday usability and sporting character.
Powered by a Villiers 249cc two-stroke single, the Sport Super Swift delivered 12 bhp, paired with a four-speed gearbox. Its lightweight frame and telescopic forks made for easy handling, while the full-width hubs provided strong braking for the period. The styling was clean and purposeful, with a distinctive chrome-panelled fuel tank adding a touch of flair.
This 1963 James Sport Super Swift represents one of the final models produced before James ceased motorcycle production in 1966. A rare find today, This classic British lightweight remains an interesting example of Britain’s rich motorcycling heritage.
Now running very well, in fine mechanical order following a long and fastidious restoration, with paint and brightwork presenting very well.
