H.H SAID BERGHASH, SULTAN OF ZANZIBAR, a leather case, the lid embosssed ‘From H.H. Said Berghash, Sultan of Zanzibar to T.B. Hardwick, May 2nd 1879’ containing a circular white metal box, the lid decorated with embossed yellow metal foil, together with four English steel knives with ‘Zanzibar’ ivory inlaid handles, one object missing from a small slot but a contemporary letter written by T.B Hardwick, dated May 2nd 1879 (As on the box lid) mainly concerning business but also mentioning his meeting with the Sultan and a newspaper clipping from 1877 with an account of the loss of the steamer Cashmere.
