A BURMESE SILVER CASKET C.1880. A very finely chased casket with a lockable drop in wooden liner. The sides are finely chased with scenes from the early life of Buddha. The hinged lid has a cast elephant finial.
21 cm.
The casket is in very good condition. The chasing is still crisp. The only condition issue I can find is a tiny split to the flat section on the corner of the lid, about 4 mm. long. Aside from that, there are no signs of repair nor damage. The silver part (with the box removed) weighs 1049 g.
