A SILVER MOUNTED "BLACK JACK" MUG, C. 1760. A leather "black jack" mug with silver handle, rim and lining. The front has an asymmetric cartouche engraved with the arms of Gale of Papworth. Maker's mark only to the rim, James Phipps, london c.1765.

The Black jack is in very good condition with no damage to the silver nor the leather. The silver lining is wrinkled (perhaps due to contraction of the leather outer) and rather tarnished but completely in tact. See additional photos
