1983 ROLEX SUBMARINER DATE WATCH

Rolex Submariner Date reference 16800 from 1983. The first part of production for this reference, which marks the beginning of the sapphire crystal on the Submariner model, featuring a matte dial with "pallettoni" indexes.

This specific Rolex Submariner Ref. 16800 is a very cool and transitional piece that combines the best elements of both the vintage and modern Rolex Submariner into one complete package. Rolex oyster 93150 with 593 end links. The Rolex Submariner Ref 16800 was the first introduced in late 1979 and was the first Rolex Submariner model to include a sapphire crystal.
 
This specific model is considered to be a very rare traditional variant of the rolex Ref.16800 model due to the fact that it includes a black matte dial with tritium lume plots and hands.   These transitional models like the one we are featuring here are becoming increasingly harder and harder to find due to the limited production numbers of these rare transitional examples.
 
A beautiful original pumpkin dial and hands and original factory bezel with original golden pearl. This example features the very first version, referred to as Mark 1.

In super condition, complete with Rolex box and serviced in November 2022.
