A MID NINETEENTH CENTURY BLUE AND SILK LADY'S DRESS;
comprising two pieces, trimmed with lace and cut steel buttons
measures skirt 66cm waist x 101cm long;
jacket approx. 40cm across front of chest x 54cm nape of neck to hem
Jacket has patched sections on left arm and two patched sections under right arm with tears and losses. Top button missing. Back bow attached with prominent stitching to the lining. Stitching is very prominent throughout. Lace trim detached and worn in numerous places. White sleeves in good condition. Stains at the front top right. Repair to panel of fabric above lace trim. Reverse shows minor discoloration to the blue cloth.
Skirt has damage to lace sections. Waistband worn and frayed with tears. Discoloration to lining. Some visible stitched repairs to the second tier on the back. Rip to first tier and rips in between top and second tier. Some staining. Discoloration to hem. Buttons on jacket and skirt are possibly not original
