A WELL ENGINEERED 3 ½’’ GAUGE MODEL OF THE LONDON AND NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY ‘PRECEDENT’ CLASS 2-4-0 LOCOMOTIVE AND TENDER NO. 619 MABLE The original locomotive was designed by F.W. Webb and built in 1880 at the Crewe Works. It was rebuilt in 1896 as an ‘Improved Precedent’ Class. It was transferred to LMS in 1923 as No. 5060 and later withdrawn.
This model is a well engineered coal-fired example in LNWR black and pinstripe livery with a Mable Crewe Works nameplate. It is well detailed with all normal cab fittings including pressure and water gauges, 2 inside cylinders and displayed on a ballasted rail and wooden base with a brass plate ‘L&NWR Precedent Class Mabel Engineers J & S Farrar Bradford 1970’.
This was bought by the vendors at Christie's circa 1974. It is offered without a current boiler certificate.
