For over 60 years, the Porsche 911 has been a symbol of sportscar perfection, embodying a unique fusion of precision engineering and emotive design. First unveiled as the Type 901 at the 1963 International Motor Show in Frankfurt, it quickly became the standard by which all other sports cars are measured. Over decades of refinement, the 911 has remained steadfast to its core principles while integrating cutting-edge technology, earning its place as an icon of both road and track.
In 2014, Porsche marked a milestone in the 911's storied history with the 50th Anniversary Edition, a special model introduced at the very same Frankfurt show where the original debuted. Porsche described this car as a celebration of “authenticity and the DNA that connects all Porsche models.” Limited to just 1,963 units—a nod to the year the 911 was born—this commemorative edition blends heritage and innovation in ways that exemplify the marque’s meticulous craftsmanship.
This special edition retains the familiar layout of a flat-six rear engine with rear-wheel drive, but also features the wide body reserved for the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 models. This unique feature not only enhances its visual presence but also improves cornering dynamics, supported by Porsche’s Active Suspension with bespoke tuning.
The exterior nods to the past with stunning details like chrome trim strips on the air intakes and engine grille, retro-inspired badge reading “911 50,” and Fuchs-inspired 20-inch wheels finished in matte black with polished centres.
Inside, the homage continues with green instrument labelling, white pointer needles, and tartan fabric seat inserts reminiscent of the original 911’s Pepita upholstery. This attention to detail extends to bespoke “911 50” logos on the tachometer, aluminium door sill plates, embroidered on the headrests together with the limited edition number plaque set into the centre console.
This car delivers the exhilarating performance expected of a 911, with the added distinction of its PDK dual-clutch gearbox, an upgrade that provides seamless shifts and shaves 0.2 seconds off the 0-62 mph time, achieving it in just 4.3 seconds. The heart of the car is the 3.8-liter flat-six, producing 394 bhp, paired with a sport exhaust system that lets the engine sing its iconic tune. With the Sport mode engaged, the car sharpens its throttle response and steering feedback, delivering an electrifying yet perfectly controlled driving experience.
The wide body, increased track width, and Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical limited-slip differential ensure remarkable stability through corners, while the PASM adaptive dampers provide unparalleled balance between comfort and sportiness.
This example is edition number 1697 of 1963. Specified in Graphite Grey, the only modification is the addition of Apple CarPlay professionally integrated into the original stereo. Upon purchase our vendor had the car professionally detailed with ceramic coating and PPF applied for longevity.
In beautiful condition and meticulously maintained, the service book shows Porsche-main dealer stamps at every recommended service interval, including the ‘Long Life condition inspection’ in 2020. Most recently serviced at Cameron Porsche Specialist in May 2024.
With just 1,963 units produced worldwide—a nod to the year of the 911's inception—this model is a rare and highly collectible iteration of the iconic 911. It represents a celebration of Porsche history, a superb driver's car with the thrill, manners and usability they are famed for, as well as a hugely sensible investment.
