A CHINESE EXPORT SILVER KULFI JAR C.1820. The half fluted body with 2 ring handles on lion mask mounts. The interior of the lid and the internal Kulfi bowl are gilded. The flared trumpet foot is marked with pseudo English hallmarks and the maker CU, for Cut Shing of Canton.

The jar has a gilt liner that sits within the body which is filled with crushed ice . The lid fits tightly onto on the liner. There are other similarly designed examples from China and India. Kulfi containers in other media work in the same way. Kulfi was a favourite sweet in India , also with the British.
