明 万历二十九年青铜钟
with an inscription in relief reading “In the twenty-ninth year of Wanli, Mengxia crafted it on an auspicious summer day for the Imperial storehouse”, corresponding to 1601.
45cm high
PROVENANCE: Formerly in a Swedish collection, purchased in London in the 1960s.
NOTE: See a similar bronze bell in the British Museum, museum number 1989,0525.1.
