PROVENANCE: From a Private English Family Collection, acquired before 1970.

NOTE:
A number of closely related bowls of this type are preserved in major museum collections. Compare an example in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, published in Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics: Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty 1644–1911, London, 1986, p. 49, fig. 27 Musuem No. CIRC.1355-1926; another in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong: Qing Porcelain from the Palace Museum Collection, Hong Kong, 1989, pl. 15; and a further example in the Nanjing Museum, included in the exhibition Qing Imperial Porcelain of the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong Reigns, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1995, cat. no. 84. Another very similar example one of a pair from the H.M. Knight Collection, was sold by Marchant and is illustrated by Stuart Marchant in Marchant – One Hundred Years, Volume I; 1925–2000, no. 48, p. 56.
A closely related pair from the Yidetang Collection was sold in Hong Kong Sotheby's, 12 October 2021, lot 25.Also a signle identical dragon bowl was sold by Sotheby's Hong Kong 07 May 2025, Lot 3623 for HKD 1,778,000.
