1955 Norton Dominator 88
Reg: RNA 705
Frame : K122/60910
- Beautiful ‘Chrome Tank ‘ example
- Retaining original Registration Number
Originally introduced in 1952 (initially for Export only), the 88 was the first to use the legendary Featherbed frame combined with an engine designed by Bert Hopwood.
Further upgrades and enhancements were made to the already excellent handling. With their magnificent competition history, the model finished 3rd in the 1954 Daytona 200. Further competition success followed until the closure of the competition department in 1962. Renowned for performance and wonderful handling, the 88 remained on production until 1968.
On offer today is a magnificent example of part of British Motorcycling History. Built on 11th January 1955, ’RNA‘ was delivered to its new owner on 14th 1955 by Davies of Chorlton, Manchester, having been ordered with the optional chrome fuel tank.
Still displaying its original registration number, this lovely machine comes with V5, original workshop manual and numerous historic MoT certificates. Having been cherished in a Private Collection, some light recommissioning will be required before enjoyment
Auctioneers note: V5 shows date of registration as 1986, the vendor believes this to be the date it was returned to the road as no SORN facility existed at this time.
