For years the mighty GPz1100 Unitrack was the flagship machine of Kawasaki’s GPz range, the GPz starting with the 550, the acclaimed 750, and then the range-topping 1100. The GPz1100 featured a fuel injected 1,089cc air/oil cooled engine, developing 90 bhp at 8,500 rpm. The GPz1100A was the final incarnation of the breed, with its ‘Uni-Track ' monoshock suspension and anti-dive front forks. In 1983 a new GPz1100 was developed with a major styling overhaul featuring a larger fairing with a lower fairing section, and the option of centre fairing panels, to give a full race fairing. At the time, Kawasaki had developed three GPz machines with a boasted 150mph top speed; the GPz 750 Turbo, the GPz 900R and the GPz 1100A1. The GPz1100 had pure-bred heritage by the bucket load - racing DNA, truly pioneering technology and brazenly good looks. A future, indeed present classic.
This beautiful GPz1100A1 has been fully restored mechanically and cosmetically to show standard by a Kawaski expert, at a cost of many thousands of pounds. The engine has been upgraded with a big-bore kit (to 1175cc), and rebuilt with no expense spared. Since restoration the bike has been tested for 50 miles, however more recently the fuel pump has failed, believed as a result of a sensor or wiring fault to the fuel pump, which will require attention before the bike can be used once more. A very rare and sought after classic, we are sure this exceptional bike will be the pride of its next collection.
