A STANDING BRONZE VISHNU,
INDIAN, 15TH-16TH CENTURY,
portrayed with the attributes that symbolise his role as a protector including a chakra (war discus) and a gada (mace), his lower right hand (now missing) would have been held in abhayamudra, (the flat palm) to allay fear; the bronze is finely detailed with overall bodily decoration of jewels, strings and fabric folds and raised up on a lotus stepped base.
