£700
A 19TH CENTURY POLYPHON BY NICOLE FRERES, LEIPZIG, late 19th Century, the coin operated polyphon playing 50 cm discs, housed in a glazed oak cabinet, the cushion cornice inscribed 'Polyphon', above the glazed cabinet door, opening to reveal the movement, flanked by twin baluster turned columns, raised on ring turned baluster front supports
All teeth/tooth tips appear to be present. The bass tooth on the top left is cracked into two pieces but still present
Polyphon is not in working order. The movement does not engage when the coin counterbalance is pressed down, and it feels overwound with the winding crank under strong tension
There are two discs with the polyphon, and a further 25 in Lot 470
