A CHINESE POTTERY LARGE UNGLAZED MODEL OF AN EQUESTRIAN ARCHER
TANG DYNASTY, 618-907
with his left arm raised to hold the bow and his right arm pulled towards his chest to hold the arrow, seated on an animal skin saddlecloth, with white dots on a black ground, the horse with open mouth, pricked ears and trimmed mane, the archer with a most expressive and concentrated facial details with long beard and moustache, all with original pigmentation in terracotta colour, white, black and red, the horse with bulging detailed eyes, all on a rectangular base.
