A FILIGREE SNUFF BOX IN THE FORM OF A SHOE, CHINESE, C.1730. A silver snuff box with enamelled flowers to the filigree overlay. The filigree is typical of early 18th century Chinese work. The gilded base is struck with what appears to be a Paris date letter for 1736.
9.2 cm
82 g.
The lid and upper are in good condition generally. The interior, though covered in old snuff, seems to be still covered in gilding. There is a small piece of filigree missing from the heel of the shoe and some small parts of silver band holding the sole are missing. Please see photos recently uploaded.
