AN IMPRESSIVE ITALIAN WALNUT AND IVORY INLAID TWIN PEDESTAL DESK, 18TH CENTURY
Highly decorated top inlaid with moulded shaped ebony cartouches, engraved ivory with a scene from Homer's Iliad, above three frieze drawers, sat atop two pedestals with hinged cupboard doors enclosing interior shelves, both doors decorated with neo classical figures amongst a profusion of flowering vines, with decorative ebonised banding and moulding throughout, the back and sides further inlaid with neo classical figures, motifs and flowering vines, raised on later castors.
