1995 Morgan 4-4 Turbo

Registration Number: XIB 5241
Chassis Number: T9504
Recorded Mileage: c.50,600 miles from new

- Just three owners, the first until 2018
- Period Mogsports turbo conversion
- Extensive history file

Possibly the most distinctive of post-war British roadsters, the 4/4 has been a presence on British roads for nearly 80 years. The 4/4 name indicated simply 4 wheels and 4 cylinders. With a simple and strong drive train, agile handling and a truly visceral, sporting ride quality, driving a well-sorted Morgan is guaranteed to offer a huge amount of fun. That you can still go out and purchase a new car with resolutely 1930s styling is something to celebrate; the style and substance of a thoroughbred classic but with the reassurance of modern mechanicals. It’s an “old” car with all the benefits of and very few of the downsides.

This later example, from October 1995, was supplied by main agent Colin Musgrove Racing, staying with its first owner until 2018. According to the original hand-written order form, the car was specified from new with the reliable Rover T16 twin cam engine (as fitted to the 800 saloon of the period). The 4/4 was delivered new with leather seats, alloy coachwork, additional rustproofing, undersealing and a luggage rack. The Morgan was sold for the second time by agent Melvyn Rutter, and has been with the current third owner since 2023. The current mileage is a shade of 50,000 from new.

In 2007 the Morgan benefitted from a turbo conversion by specialist Mogsport, using a Garratt TB25 turbocharger, intercooler, also uprated Bosch injectors, engine management and exhaust system. Various upgrades were also carried out by specialist Steve Simmonds, supported by an invoice for £3,741.52. Further recent work includes servicing by specialist Richard Thorne, a front suspension rebuild by New Elms at a cost of £1795, and sensibly the fitting of a very effective uprated radiator and cooling fan.

Garaged when not in use, with an MoT to May 2025, and complete with a comprehensive history file, correspondence and factory manuals, this nice upgraded example will surely prove to be a very worthy companion for warm summer evening blasts and longer touring trips.
