清乾隆 白玉龙带勾
carved with archaic-style scrolls and cicada in a slightly recessed panel, with open-mouth dragon head hook, the underside plain, the stone white.

PROVEANCE: From the collection of Luis Esteves Fernandes, Portugal (1897-1988), sold by Woolley & Wallis in their auction of The Luis Esteves Fernandes Collection of Asian Art, Wednesday 22nd March 2013, lot 7 (one of two). His Excellency, Luis Esteves Fernandes, was in 1925 named the third Secretary to the Portuguese Ligation in Peking, Beijing, where he remained until 1931. He later became the Portuguese Ambassador to Washington, 1950-1961, where he had a working relationship with John F. Kennedy.
