- One owner from new
- Well cared for, lightly used example

Morgan’s first four-wheeled car, the ‘new’ 4/4 entered production in 1936, initially powered by a Coventry Climax engine outputting 40bhp. The original 4/4 was replaced by the longer and stronger Plus 4 in 1950, with a more powerful Standard Vanguard engine and then from 1953 the Triumph TR2 engine, to be replaced a few years later with the 100bhp TR3 unit. Strong and tuneable, the Triumph engines made Morgans the cars to beat in production sports car racing.

The model was revived in 1985, sitting underneath the V8-engined Plus 8 until 2000, and powered from 1988 by the Rover M16i unit and five-speed transmission. The 1992 Plus Four adopted the wider chassis of the Plus Eight with a new Rover T16 power unit. Then in 1995 a total of 114 design changes (mainly due to new European type approval legislation) came in, including a galvanised chassis. A perennial favourite, the second series ran until production was halted in 2000.

This very nicely preserved Plus Four has been in the care of just one private owner from new. A desirable 1996 Second Series model, the Morgan was ordered from dealer Burlen Services in Salisbury to our vendor’s personal specification. Finished in Indigo Blue with a Stone leather and walnut interior, the Morgan features a galvanised (undersealed) chassis, aluminium body with steel wings, scuttle roll bar, additional tread rubbers, Plus 8 spotlights, badge bar and luggage carrier, spare wheel with cover, battery conditioner and handy travel suitcases.

Carefully stored and maintained by our vendor, the Plus Four has been regularly serviced with a replacement (stainless steel) exhaust in 2005, replacement cambelt in 2024 and new Michelin Primacy tyres in 2025. Always parked at home in a dry garage, the coachwork is free of scratches or dents and the paintwork regularly waxed. Offering a comfortable, secure driving position, smooth performance and, in the words of our vendor, “a thrilling, secure and stable drive”, all in all a very genuine example of this archetypal British sportscar. The Morgan will be offered with an MoT certificate valid to May 2026.
