- Unusual and desirable model
- Show winning restoration

Made by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke from 1953 to 1965, the popular Tourist model achieved sales of over 100,000, being sold as an upmarket scooter which was more expensive, heavier, and more stable than a Vespa or a Lambretta. The Tourist featured a speedometer, steering lock, clock, luggage carrier, and a spare wheel, The model was referred to in England as "The Rolls-Royce of Scooters" and in the US as "The Cadillac of Scooters". The 103 Series Model A0 was introduced in 1955, with a new four-speed transmission and 10 inch wheels. In all respects a reliable, sophisticated, and very capable ‘Touring’ scooter.

Best in Show for a non-Vespa / Lambretta, and 2nd place for Exhibitor’s Choice at the International Scooter Custom Show, this wonderful Tourist was acquired and fully restored over two and a half years by its previous owner, as documented by a blog covering the project, which includes a number of photos which can be found on the heinkeltourist.com website.

Completed in 2010, the bike has since been carefully stored and looked after, and still presents exceptionally well. Notably the scooter retains its Excelsior badge above the Heinkel badge on the front panel, to indicate that the scooter was first registered to the UK importer when new. Offered with current V5C, manuals, a copy of ‘Scooter’ magazine containing an article on the scooter, original carburettor and a spare luggage rack, this is a fine example of a uniquely stylish model.
