Montesa Cota 348 Trials Bike

Registration Number: N/A
Frame Number: TBA

Montesa was founded in the mid-1940s in Barcelona by Pedro Permanyer and Francisco Bulto.  The company entered road racing in the early 1950s with a successful 125cc single, but its major impact on motorcycle sport would be away from the tarmac, the Scorpion and Capra moto-crossers and the Cota trials machine being the equal of any of their contemporaries. In the UK, six-time British trials champion Malcolm Rathmell, previously contracted to Bultaco, did much to promote Montesa after he joined as development rider in 1974, winning the Scott Trial for the Spanish factory in 1975 and 1976.

Trials models were offered in many different sizes 25, 49, 125, 175, 250, 348 and 349, as were motocrossers 125, 175, 250, 360 and 414. This also included a line of street and Enduro models also. In 1973 the VR (Vekhonen Replica) was released and set the standard for 1974, as did the 348 Cota did in 1976. Ulf Karlsson won the World Trials Championship on a Cota in 1980.

This clean and tidy example is presented in good condition and ready to hit trails once more.
