The XKR Stratstone Limited Edition, a development of the XKR S model, was launched to mark the end of XKR production, and indeed of all production from Jaguar’s spiritual home at Browns Lane in Coventry. The final 30 cars, purchased by Stratstone of Mayfair, were upgraded to a driver-focused high specification, with a 400bhp supercharged 4.2 V8 engine mated to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, satellite navigation, lowered sports suspension, a sports exhaust system, enhanced front and rear spoilers with mesh grilles, side skirts and 20" OZ alloy wheels. Each Stratstone has its own unique numbered door footplate, in addition to Limited Edition external badging. Marking the end of an era for Jaguar, the 30 cars were divided into 16 Coupes and 14 Convertibles, and are now highly prized by Jaguar enthusiasts and collectors alike.
This car, number 6, was first registered in late June of 2006, with a comprehensive specification to include satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, rear park distance control, Xenon headlights with power wash function, electric front seating with driver memory, a Jaguar/Alpine sound package, Jaguar steel pedal set, remote central locking with alarm, rain and light packs, Jaguar trip computer, variable heated front seating, cruise control, six-disc multi-change CD system, black fabric electric convertible roof, red ‘R’ brake calipers, electric window and mirror packs, and a black leather multi-function steering wheel.
Finished in Platinum Silver Metallic with a black leather interior, and complete with detailed service records, we understand the Stratstone has benefitted from much care and attention in recent ownership.
The history file includes the original book pack with its stamped service book, current and older MoT certificates, and a number of supporting invoices.
In April 2023 a local specialist has been through the car, attending to various minor items, including refurbishing of the alloy wheels. An invoice for £6597.79 covers this recent work.
The XKR is an enormously competent modern classic performance car, and this super example merits closer inspection.
